Our Story

I was born in a family where stitching isn’t just a skill – it’s a tradition. I started playing with machines, scissors, and other tailoring tools, then around 30 years ago I stitched my own suit – I was the youngest among all the women in my family to take on such a complex project! Watching the women of every generation in my family who were deeply involved in all kinds of tailoring work, India’s rich multicultural heritage shaped how I see the craft. What started as family tradition and childhood curiosity grew into formal training in fashion designing and drafting, giving me 15-18 years of professional expertise.

Six years ago, my husband and I made Calgary our home, starting from a blank paper. He’s a multi-talented gem – an artist, photographer, creative director, and musician whose understanding of colors, design, and precision in everything he sees has made my work so much stronger. His creative eye and musical sense of rhythm and harmony, combined with my decades of experience, inspired us to start Seehra Sewing & Alterations – creating something special for Calgary’s diverse community.

Everyday Fixes

The alterations you need most – usually ready in just a couple of days. These are the jobs that make people’s favorite clothes wearable again.

Growing up in India, Pakistan, Iran’s tailoring tradition, I understand the cultural importance of traditional wear. Calgary’s diversity has taught me to work with clothing from around the world.

Indian and Pakistani formal wear, sarees, lehengas, salwar-kameez, sherwanis, Muslim traditional wear, Iranian clothing, West Asian and Middle Eastern traditional dresses, and garments for cultural celebrations and religious ceremonies.
